FAQs

Who do I contact if I need to reschedule my court date?

You can contact the Court Coordinator associated with the court assigned to your case. They will be able to assist you.

Do I need an attorney before my court appearance?

You can hire your own attorney, but you can also wait until your first court appearance. You’ll be given the option of having 30 days to hire your own attorney, sign a waiver to represent yourself in court, or apply for a public defender.

How do I obtain copies of documents related to my court case?

You can contact the County Clerk’s office. You can also use the online portal to view your records and print them out at home.

What is the process for suing someone?

If you’re seeking less than $20,000, you’ll go through a Justice of the Peace court. Bring your original petition to our office, pay the filing fee, and tell us how you want the citation served to the other party.

What should I wear when appearing in court?

You should wear conservative and neat clothing, as your appearance has an impact on the judge and jury.
